✈️ Using US Credit Card Points for Flights to Taiwan: EVA Air, China Airlines and Their Alliance Partners
EVA Air and China Airlines fly nonstop between the US and Taipei, and both can be booked with points that started on a US credit card. The route is not always direct. Only one bank lists EVA Air with a published ratio, and none of the pages we checked lists China Airlines at all. The rest of the options go through an airline alliance. Every partner and ratio below comes from the bank's or the alliance's own page, read on October 17, 2026. Award prices and seat availability change daily and are set by the airline programs, so this guide does not quote award prices.
Which alliance each airline is in
EVA Air is a Star Alliance member, listed on Star Alliance's member airline page. Star Alliance says you can redeem miles for an award ticket on any of its member airlines, whichever member program you earned them in, subject to seat availability. China Airlines' Dynasty Flyer program is listed on SkyTeam's frequent flyer page, and SkyTeam says miles can be redeemed for an award ticket on any SkyTeam-operated flight. So EVA flights can be booked through Star Alliance programs and China Airlines flights through SkyTeam programs, as long as the program you use shows the seat.
Direct transfers to EVA Air
Capital One: its transfer partner page, dated January 29, 2026, lists EVA Air at 2:1.5, so 2,000 Capital One miles become 1,500 EVA Infinity MileageLands miles. Venture X, Venture and VentureOne earn these miles. Citi: the Citi Strata Premier page lists Eva Air among its points transfer partners, but the public page does not state the ratio. Check the ratio in your ThankYou account before transferring. China Airlines: none of the transfer partner pages we checked for Chase, Amex, Capital One or Bilt listed it.
Star Alliance programs for EVA Air flights
United MileagePlus: Chase 1:1, Bilt 1:1. Air Canada Aeroplan: Chase 1:1, Amex 1:1, Capital One 1:1, Bilt 1:1. Avianca LifeMiles: Amex 1:1, Capital One 1:1, Bilt 1:1. Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer: Chase 1:1, Amex 1:1, Capital One 1:1. Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles: Capital One 1:1, Bilt 1:1. ANA Mileage Club: Amex 1:1. On Chase, points transfer from Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve and Ink Business Preferred. Each program prices partner awards by its own chart and may not show every EVA seat, so search the same flight in two or three programs before you transfer.
SkyTeam programs for China Airlines flights
Air France-KLM Flying Blue: Chase 1:1, Amex 1:1, Capital One 1:1, Bilt 1:1. Delta SkyMiles: Amex 1:1. Virgin Atlantic Flying Club: Chase 1:1, Amex 1:1, Bilt 1:1. SkyTeam's statement covers redemption across members, but whether a given program's search tool shows China Airlines seats on your date is something to check in that program before moving any points.
Before you transfer
Find the award seat first, in the airline program you plan to use, and only then transfer the exact amount. Chase says transfers to travel partners are final, go in 1,000-point increments, usually post by the next business day but can take up to 7 business days, and fail if the name on the airline account does not match the name on the Chase account. Citi's transfer minimum is 1,000 points. Open the airline account in your own name before the transfer. Award tickets still carry taxes and fees paid in cash, and the program sets those amounts.
